Critiques:

• Serpent Coil Bowl: Dimensions - 8" x 8" x 6" , Made - 10/30/2023

• Using Patsy Green 2 and Licorice caused a deep contrast between the colors, which makes the inner design pop out. The green also becomes cloudy in spots, adding depth to the piece

• With a balanced stripe of green on the outside of the bowl, the eyes are drawn towards the inside of the piece. This design is more bold and plays into the bright values of the green color

• When there is little licorice color on top of the green a browning effect lines the edges of the black designs. This browning, along with the slight bumpy texture, provides additional depth to the swirl creating movement in the design

• Finally, the Patsy Green 2 under-glaze cracked creating rectangular shards underneath the clear coat. I suspect this happened because I left the green glaze out to dry before applying the licorice black under-glaze. Yet, these shards apply an additional pattern to make the bowl stand out
